Hey JG - I think going to this library format was only a matter of time. The library itself will probably become an unnecessary middle-man, too, with access to books coming from some larger repository. I think publishing will evolve, too.
I think both forms serve a purpose and as we evolve and grow toward more digital acceptance, we should not forgot those that are dependent on print or that have limited access to digital. Progress is wonderful, when all can participate.
